So, it’s OK to want stuff, to get stuff, to give stuff, to use stuff, and to get rid of stuff. Some get stuff from stores, the less financially favored head for thrift stores, garage sales, Mom’s house or the trash pickup routes. You start to give a bit of stuff away. Moving to a bigger home. You get more stuff.

I finally got around to unpacking my box and putting my pictures of my boyfriend and the dogs and my certificates and things, and when I did, I felt much more “at home” This made my desk feel much more lived in, and was good for my productivity because I didn’t feel like I was in a strange place anymore.

Here is a short list of some of my favorite finds at garage, estate and thrift store sales. I used an old seat cushion I had and wrapped it with brand new material from another garage sale to pretty it up and make it softer, then stacked new throw pillows I found at yet another sale for $.50 My ribbon however came from a garage sale.

Ever since I created a family chore chart , everybody but the family dog pitches in and does their part. Give a realistic assessment of how often those spaces need cleaning (both regular and deep cleaning). Organizing various storage spaces such as your kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and garage. My kids help quite a bit, actually.

Even the dogs are getting into the act. I saw little Mexican hats in Walmart the other day – part of a dog’s Halloween costume! Which neighborhoods give the most candy and have the easiest walking? Back then, adults did not typically participate (other than to give out the candy).

The grown birds also provided entertainment and exercise the day a neighborhood dog broke into the enclosure and the birds scattered all over the neighborhood. I’ve always loved going to sales – garage sales, estate sales, auctions, moving sales – no matter. Most garage sales don’t have many antiques – or even collectibles.
