Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. If you keep your head and are persistent, you can find many things you want or need, all in near perfect condition, for a fraction of the cost with NO TAXES due. My best finds.

Have you heard the old saying: “Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.”? We were poor, Mom and Dad lived every day showing us what it meant to ‘make it do’ and we often ‘did without’ Here are my thoughts on frugal ways to make things do. Buy good clothing, used. Use up your food.

I took at least three trunks full of “stuff” to Goodwill, I had a garage sale, and I sold things online. However, I wasn’t able to complete the job before moving day arrived, so some of our “stuff” we didn’t need came with us. Boy, did I declutter. Embrace minimalist principles.

Be ruthless in your decision-making process; if you haven’t used an item in the last year or it doesn’t hold significant sentimental value, it’s probably time to let it go. Consider hosting a garage sale or listing items online to sell. Remember, the process doesn’t have to be perfect.
