Kids grow quickly, and many parents find that they only wear an outfit a few times before they have outgrown it. A good way to make friends at your local thrift stores is to bring in your old clothing and donate it. At each meeting, the parent who attends must bring some gently used clothing that their children have outgrown.

If you are like most parents, you want to raise your children well – to develop their mental and physical aspects completely. Relatives – Great Uncle Joe may still have that trumpet he used to play and might like to donate it to a future generation! We rented our son’s alto saxophone while he took lessons in high school.

Parents already know that back to school time is the second most expensive time of the year (right after the holidays). learning to give by having them donate last years clothing. Use cash (yours, your parents or other cash that can be had). One of my relatives did this for the four years their son was in school.

When my son and my husband were overseas I added a magazine to every box I sent. There isn’t much to do other than read books/magazines or watch movies, so magazines are an awesome thing to add to your military shoebox donations - Here is my order: Good Housekeeping $7.97 (normally $41.88).

If you plan to donate it, will the organization use it for the purpose you intended, or spend it on perks for their employees? Most days I try to do some preparation with my sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren – to help them learn financial concepts and acquire the ability to wisely manage their money.

My degree is in mechanical engineering, but I’m just starting a transition to nursing – before I got pregnant with my son, I was working as a nursing assistant while my husband finished grad school, and planning to go on to nursing school.
