If your shoes were dirty, scuffed and dull with run down heels, they thought twice about offering you that job. Waterproof.

Give your shoes better traction with screws. Use pool noodles to prop your boots up. Use a razor to remove the pills from your sweaters. Keep your feet dry even when you are not wearing waterproof shoes. Use plastic bags as liners. Use a dryer sheet to tame your staticky hair. Stuck in the snow?

You will find that things the fire did not burn up are now ruined by smoke and soggy with water used to put out the flames. Nothing left at all.
