What I Spent I went into this week with absolutely no menu plan…I was just winging it all week long and still, we didn’t eat out at all. I saw some leftover angel hair pasta in the fridge, so I took that out, added some half and half and some red pesto, plus some asparagus.

This is better than endless nights of eating out, but definitely not as frugal as an organized trip to Aldi. I spent $63 at Safeway, spread out between an embarrassing number of trips. Sunday Leftover sandwiches; they’re great reheated in the toaster oven on the air-fryer setting.

They were the leftovers. I do the same thing AND my kids eat healthy! This is what I do: Step 1 : make a monthly menu plan and stick it on the fridge or the wall. Note: to see my example of a monthly menu plan, click here. Step 2: leftovers. Thursday and Friday? Thus no food went to waste.
