I know there are a lot of Americans who try their best to only dine at restaurants they recognize when they vacation, and that's very odd to me. Choose one meal to eat in - If you have a vacation rental with a kitchen, make use of it. Choose a meal to eat "at home". We've found a lot of cool restaurants this way.

I've used them for snacks, for dirty clothes, for leftovers and for receipts and brochures. I have started replacing single-use bags with silicone Stasher bags. They are heavy-duty and can be used for everything, plus they're freezer-, boil-, oven-, and dishwasher-safe. We use this one.

I love to travel but when it comes to staying in hotels, I want to stay in a 5 star without breaking the bank! My favorite hotel in London is: the Dorchester Hotel. The out-of-state can cost me a lot of mulah. When that can’t happen, I use expedia: US – Deals Search .

There was the gas, the hotel, and the restaurants to pay for. We thought eating in restaurants was a main attraction of travel because you get to try local foods. However, most of the time, we only had money for the low cost restaurants, so they were all one greasy spoon after another. Use discounts on rental cars.

We used to think that a vacation wasn’t a vacation unless we had eaten like the locals and indulged in all of the local foods. In fact, eating out while on vacation got so expensive for us, especially after we had our first child, that we often had to cut our vacations short because we ran out of money.

The good thing was, I didn’t get used to a “luxury lifestyle” (whatever that is) during all those years. And eating out wasn’t the exception for me then. Of course, due to my upbringing, I was used to getting along with little money. We don’t eat out often, but I like to cook.
