We spoiled our children and we apparently are even more intent on doing so with our grandchildren! They rarely gave us toys or money. My parents were somewhat more interactive with their grandchildren (my kids). They drove the 200 mile trip on holidays and birthdays to celebrate with us. They tolerated our presence.

Even the New York Times acknowledges that: As boomers join the ranks of grandparents, many are financing vacations for their children and grandchildren. My WWII era uncle and his wife made trips annually with one of their 4 grandchildren (a different one each year). We took my Mom with us to Florida in the 1980’s.

Wouldn’t it be fun to have a place where our sons, their wives and our grandchildren could come together to play, visit and bond? My differing perspectives on vacation rental finances. My Grandkids have grown up visiting the lake condo and love it. Gather the family.

I found pleasure in thinking about giving our children and grandchildren the opportunity to see part of the world they might not otherwise see. We could well afford the cost with no foreseeable problem with our own finances now or at any time in the future. One son is trying to rebuild finances after an expensive year.

As I prepared to hold a Money Camp for my young grandchildren last year, I researched various educational standards to review what kids can learn at various ages. Use the below as a guideline only. My grandkids were 6 and 3 and they really got into this! We used real coins and Monopoly bills and their toys as store merchandise.
