This week, due to meal planning burn out and maybe a bit of laziness, I did very little shopping and instead planned many of our meals from what I could find in the freezer. I am getting better at putting leftovers in the freezer if we don’t eat them before they go bad. I served with fruit and toast.

I have a grandmother who would never dream of buying containers to store leftovers or food for the freezer. I use recycled jars to store baking goods (those blue Ball jars were a yard sale find), leftovers, matches, Q-tips, cotton balls, and office supplies.

My grandmother taught me this money saving tip years ago and I now only buy the seconds. We ate leftovers. Wednesday: leftover night from Tuesday’s dinner. We’ll pack a lunch, but we’re going to find a place for dinner. Seconds are the not-so-pretty apples that the orchard can’t sell at full price.
