I keep it charged in my garage and I have now gotten into the habit of Swiffering (is that a word?) To solve my problem, I took some old flannel baby blankets and cut them into 10 1/2 inch by 8 1/2 inch squares to fit my Swiffer. And when these squares wear out, I’ll head to the thrift store for some cheap flannel shirts.

However, I wait until spring and summer to buy decorations – and get them at garage sales. However, I have found that most of the stuff either doesn’t fit me, is stylistically challenged or a weird color if I wait. Stores also stock up on gift sets with cosmetics for the holidays and may need to move it fast in January.

In order to fit in, you might want to dress the same way your co workers dress or drive a similar quality car or send the kids to that upscale private school. As a young mom, I saved like mad – going to garage sales, thrift stores and accepting hand me downs on toys and clothing. Included here is peer pressure.

We have accumulated a lot of stuff – lose screws, highly prized collectibles, everyday essentials, clothes that ‘might fit again someday’, tools, children’s artwork, food stuffs and more. I carried this idea to our garage. Use them to store those once a year needs – like holiday decorations, or party supplies.
