I’ve seen the nieces and my own kids ask for and get babysitting services time after time from a busy working boomer. In my experience, my kids expect more of me for their kids than I expected of my parents for mine. It never occurred to me to ask Mom or Mom-in-law to come watch my kids.

I’m pretty sure I always sang it as Grandmother’s house, which is weird since we actually went to my Grandfather’s house for holidays. Hopefully extended family is with us or we are with them and for a while we all stop driving each other crazy to enjoy good food and wine and conversation. Sometimes there is snoring.

I also splurge on our cat’s special allergen-reducing food, which makes it possible for Ms. Easiest part of being frugal: Not buying things like junk food at the grocery store.
