Way to stay warm (either some heat source, or lots of blankets). I have emergency supplies in the car, including blankets, food, flares, and First Aid. My son knows that there are two meeting points out (depending on whether he leaves out the front or out the back) in our neighborhood. Water (and method of purification).

Today a poor person in America probably has access to electricity, telephones, food, indoor plumbing, central heat and public transportation. In the morning, you raced into the living room to warm first your backside and then your front-side by the stove. Our son was born in October, so I carried him all summer.
