Make puppets and stage a show for the parents – letting the kids come up with the story line, the kind of puppets they want to make, the puppet stage (it can be as simple as an ironing board with a tablecloth over it!). For example, this week, I’m kidsitting my 11 and 8 year old grandkids at their house – getting them on and off the school bus, fixing dinner, helping with homework, playing with them and etc – while the parents are away on a much deserved adult only trip. Grandparents, obviously, would have the benefit of extra income.

Here are four things I learned after having grandchildren. My Aunt and Uncle used to take each of their grandchildren on a trip when they reached the ripe old age of 8. Parents had the right and the responsibility to raise their own children. Too bad, parents rule. They aren’t my children! But, it is my house.

My grown kids are also savers and I have high hopes that the grandchildren will follow their example. Helping the parents teach my grandchildren to save is an ongoing project of mine. This was part of my parent’s plan to turn me into a saver. Because I am a saver, I have now become financially free.
