What I Spent I did get a Hungry Harvest box and I made a small trip to Aldi, but I haven’t done an honest-to-goodness grocery shopping trip since we got back from Hawaii! I’ve done some freezer scrounging to come up with things to eat, so…yay for using up what’s on hand. squirrel-watching I spent: $ 6.99

Monday I’d gotten a loaf of cinnamon bread out of the freezer on New Year’s Eve day, so I used some of that on Monday to make French toast, which we ate with whipped cream and berries. Last week I had a fully planned-out Menu Plan , and instead decided to take a last minute trip to visit my family. So, we'll be incorporating last week's menu plan for this week. And since I have most everything still in my freezer or pantry, that also means I have very little grocery shopping to do this week!

As you all know, I typically do my grocery shopping on Thursdays, therefore, that is also the day that I plan my weekly menu. You'll see my grocery photo and breakdown soon.) For my menu planning, I start by scouring my freezer, fridge, and pantry to see what I have on-hand already.

The weeks that I take the time to plan the menu are the weeks that I have control over our spending. The weeks were I don’t menu plan are the weeks that I’m at the grocery store multiple times or we get take out multiple times, leading to an out of control grocery spending. Menu planning saves me time.
