They had me, and then my mom decided to go back to school full-time and get a PhD.

Our son is 29 and biological. When they got married, they bought a duplex so that the rent money from the tenant in the upstairs apartment would pay the mortgage. My biggest financial regret is the amount of money we spent on restaurant meals from the time we were married and both working full time to when we had kids.
