My degree is in mechanical engineering, but I’m just starting a transition to nursing – before I got pregnant with my son, I was working as a nursing assistant while my husband finished grad school, and planning to go on to nursing school. They had me, and then my mom decided to go back to school full-time and get a PhD.

Our son is 29 and biological. When they got married, they bought a duplex so that the rent money from the tenant in the upstairs apartment would pay the mortgage. My biggest financial regret is the amount of money we spent on restaurant meals from the time we were married and both working full time to when we had kids.

My husband is an extremely hard worker as he works and goes to school full time. Renting, not having super nice furniture or cars, having mismatched dishes and bedding. Thank goodness its illegal to sell cute little children, because I would have gotten a pretty penny for my son. We completely started over.
