I have found that garage sales , flea markets , estate sales or Mom/Grandma’s basement are the best places to score a great deal on used canning jars. The best place to find used canning accessories cheaply is eBay , although sometimes you can get lucky and spot some items at garage sales , too.

There have been countless times I have seen nearly new, decorator pieces being sold for pennies on the dollar at garage sales because the homeowner decided to re-decorate. Instead of paying for telephone, use free services over the internet (Skype and Google both have them – but note that there may be privacy issues in their use).

Garage sale and thrift store furniture bargains abound. However, there are ways to safely and beautifully reuse/restore items such as beds, sofas, chairs and decorative pillows. Older pieces may have different types of finishes on them too, so you need to figure out what is on there to know what you can put on top of it.
