We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Dad’s old cowboy hat and a rope from the garage can be the start of a cowboy get up. Mom’s black cape, some makeup and a piece of cardboard cut and painted black to make bats ears can make someone into Dracula.

Garage sale and thrift store furniture bargains abound. The toy ice cream table and chairs from my Mom’s childhood have an iron frame, which I stripped and spray painted. It had way too many coats of paint on it to ever be pretty again otherwise. But there are ways to save – consider used furniture.
