While I am not that thrifty, and I love prettily wrapped gifts, I don’t like to spend a bunch on wrappings. Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. She would very carefully (and slowly) unwrap her gifts so as to be able to preserve the paper. Use paper drop cloth to wrap.

I used an old seat cushion I had and wrapped it with brand new material from another garage sale to pretty it up and make it softer, then stacked new throw pillows I found at yet another sale for $.50 I used it for years and sold it – for $25 – last summer in my own garage sale. Glass leftover containers 3 for $.75.

A good deal on a big bag of fresh lettuce isn’t thrifty if you can’t use it up before it rots. There have been countless times I have seen nearly new, decorator pieces being sold for pennies on the dollar at garage sales because the homeowner decided to re-decorate. Avoid re-decorating your home every few years.
