Contests are cheaper to enter now, all you have to do is give away some information – like your email id, and put up with some clutter in your email box (the item you just subscribed to). You need to be an extreme bargainer.

We use the eggs, harvest meat & if I can’t get out to hunt venison we’ve had friends give us meat. Now-I’m a single parent who works part-time, cares for my elder mother, homeschools & runs a farm. There’s always been garage sales/flea markets, library, state parks, fishing. This means funds are tight.

We shopped at garage sales, turned down the heat, combined errands to use less gas, didn’t buy a lot of prepared food, cooked at home and the like. When our first baby came we used cloth diapers (so we didn’t have to pay for the disposable ones) and had to freeze dry them in the garage in the winter. That took forever!
