While in Los Angeles last summer, we decided to spend half a day exploring the city before moving from our hotel at Universal Hollywood to our one in Anaheim. We spent half the day at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which is amazing if you love movies. The Regeneration exhibit had a few, like these amazing costumes above.

You can enjoy the museum exhibits, eat food, browse vendors, and even see the special exhibits without all the usual crowds (I totally go for that).

Interactive museums - I love a normal museum, but I think the creativity of museums that are interactive and more than just looking at art on a wall or things in a case are next level. I've been doing more lately, but some of my favorites have been Hopscotch Portland , Arte Museum and Omega Mart in Las Vegas.

Research airfare and hotel destinations to find discounts and offers. Skip the hotel There are many sites, such as Airbnb, that offer homes or condos to rent. Doing so can be less expensive than paying for a hotel. It could be fun to be a hometown tourist and visit your local museums and venues.

Most museums have free days or discounted days that you should definitely take advantage of. Maybe they’ll pass it on to their kids someday!
