It seemed reasonable to devote a greater portion to real estate, in order to further diversify our portfolio. We planned our purchase in the heady days just prior to the recession of 2008/2009. Wouldn’t it be fun to have a place where our sons, their wives and our grandchildren could come together to play, visit and bond?

My grown kids are also savers and I have high hopes that the grandchildren will follow their example. Helping the parents teach my grandchildren to save is an ongoing project of mine. Lastly, being a saver sets an example for your children (or grandchildren) to model. Saving is a prerequisite to becoming an investor.

I wanted a place for our family to gather – adult children and grandchildren along with us. I also wanted a bit more diversification in our portfolio and figured an additional piece of real estate could help that. That gave me the idea to start looking around for one too.
