Wouldn’t it be fun to have a place where our sons, their wives and our grandchildren could come together to play, visit and bond? My Grandkids have grown up visiting the lake condo and love it. Property values had risen considerably in our married lifetime and we thought they would continue to do so. Gather the family.

My son was 4.5 I am over a thousand miles away from my mom, and I feel bad that she can’t see me and her grandkids more often. Meanwhile, I am mom to three kids. Sitting in this position, I am clearly able to see the personal pros and cons of having more than one child or having an only child. Having Just One Child.

Too bad the grandkids are too small to read and execute their assignments, and I’m pretty sure my daughter is not going to take the assignment of folding my clothes! But my son-in-law is going to be getting a lot of assignments from my daughter. The interface is easy and intuitive to navigate.

The Grandkids are 9 and 12 now with lots of time before they have to start supporting themselves somehow. Sons followed in the footsteps of their father’s, even to the extreme of becoming known by name of the family occupation (Smith – for blacksmith, Taylor for clothing maker, etc).

Daughters and sons of very wealthy families sometimes want to disown the family wealth in order to prove themselves. It is true that grandparents love to ‘spoil’ the grandkids (I know this because I am a grandparent). I felt it would give them control over me in some fashion and fiercely wanted my independence.

But our best trip was in 2012, when we funded a trip to Yellowstone with our two sons, their wives and our grandchildren. One of our son’s and his wife peeled out after touring Yellowstone, while our other son, wife and grandkids went with us to a few other destinations prior to heading home.
