My spouse, on the other hand, was raised in a family that seldom traveled. He thinks most vacations are a waste of money (even though he seems to enjoy and remember fondly the ones we have taken), and doesn’t see the point in consciously building memories with the kids and grandkids by traveling together. I doubt it.

Electronics – I’ll be traveling during the holidays with the grandkids – this portable player is cheap enough to get them both one to keep them quiet on the trip! I really need one of these and getting an unfinished one (I like the simple lines) allows me to finish it in any way that I want.

The Grandkids are 9 and 12 now with lots of time before they have to start supporting themselves somehow. Another criteria used for this pick might be the length of the commute or the frequency of travel.
