She watches him constantly and emulates his behavior (both good and bad). But while he mostly doesn’t want to be around her, when he does they are a joy to watch. Pennie''s Perspective Grandkids' But it’s amazing how much she is picking up from him. He, of course, does not understand her fascination with him.

Although I live 200+ miles away from my two grandkids, I try to get them for a week or so during the summer. On special occassions, now that I’m retired, I go to their house to watch them. There are many documented benefits to utilizing grandparents to watch grandkids. Would you pay your parents to watch your kids?

In Huffington Post article Boomers Give New Meaning To Spoiling The Grandkids author Linda Stern reported: “Roughly 36 percent of the grandparents surveyed by AARP said “spoiling (grand)children by buying them too much” was a part of a grandparent’s financial role.”. It’s my grandkid!”. It’s just fun!

Amazon has a great deal right now to transfer those Dust Collecting VHS tapes into DVD’s so that you can watch them on your DVD Player for only $27.99 ! I am excited about this because we own a lot of Disney kids videos that we can restore on DVD’s for my kids and even our grandkids years from now. Get the VHS to DVD 5.0

It is true that grandparents love to ‘spoil’ the grandkids (I know this because I am a grandparent). Parents do watch to see how offspring utilize monetary resources. Giving initial help to adult offspring can be one way of helping them stay out of the parental nest. It is, after all, their money.

Many of you know that I am Jewish and do not celebrate Christmas but pop culture has Christmas everywhere and we always watched Christmas TV specials. I know it was for many of you and now you watch with your kids and grandkids – this is how family traditions are made! . My favorite was always A Charlie Brown Christmas!
