Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle. Try replacing some paper products on your list with cloth and re-usable products that you probably have around the house and you will not only reduce your grocery spending, but you will also reduce your waste. I use flannel hankies during sniffle season. I have been using a Silpat Nonstick Silicone Baking Mat for years.

And since we’re all pretty frugal around here, I’m sure most of us strive to send our kids to school with homemade lunches. The re-useable lunch sacks are washable, made of recycled cotton, and eliminate a great deal of waste that would otherwise occur from the use of daily paper or plastic lunch bags.

If you are looking for a can of spray paint you used last summer, you are more likely to look somewhere that you have other cans of paint stored. Store laundry supplies together – starch, detergent, spot remover, irons, fabric softener and etc. Store things where you use them. Re-build that memory when things get rearranged.

Recycle – Of course you probably already know about this tip, and may have a recycling bin in your home. But there are other ways to recycle products, too. Tip: Try using newspaper instead of paper towels the next time you wash your windows. Cleaners, bug spray , body scrub , laundry detergent , you name it.

People wear clothes and then dirty laundry accumulates. No one else uses my closet!) If I take care of the dishes each night, they’re never gonna pile up too high. If I wash the dirty laundry regularly, it will never become overwhelming. Do you find yourself thinking that you’re the only one with messes?

Using only cash while on vacation will force you to question each purchase, especially when it comes to spending money on unnecessary souvenirs--you won''t want to waste your cash. Will you have laundry facilities? Will there be laundry facilities? Thank goodness our rental has recycling containers. Tourism Centers.
