I’ve been an architect, day-care teacher to toddlers, and library clerk, but am currently a SAHM to a 14yo son and 9yo daughter. We rented at first, but the rental situation in our new town was poor. Nine years later, the rent for similar homes in our neighborhood is double the cost of our mortgage! Enjoying some outdoor time.

Act like a tourist and take advantage of local museums, the zoo, parks, and other activities. rent bikes to ride around town. There are many museums with reduced admission, FREE kids’ events, and movie deals around the nation. Check your local library, too, for events they may have throughout the summer.

I search around the internet, use atlas information and check out travel books in the library and bookstore. We went by train, rented a car to see the sights at Yellowstone and flew back home. When we went to Yellowstone the first time, I found that Amtrak had a dome car ride through the Rockies ending up in Salt Lake City.
