They are microwavable (except for the lid) and dishwasher safe. I don't microwave any plastic containers. Sometimes reaching for disposable paper products seems easier, but it doesn't take much more effort to use products that are re-usable or recycled. I love my Pyrex Glass Storage Containers with the blue plastic lids.
