When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle.

Think about what goes in to a bagged lunch: paper bags, plastic bags, aluminum foil, styrofoam, napkins, waxed paper, disposable forks, knives, and spoons, juice boxes, soda cans, etc. Everything in that lunch bag can be washed and reused or at least an be dealt with in an environmentally-friendly manner. We make our own using a few simple ingredients of washing soda , soap flakes, and borax. Use recycled toilet pape r. By switching to recycled toilet paper you can help save 1 million trees a year and 1.35 They can be thrown in the wash and reused again for next time. Recycle and reuse. Use cold water.
