We will probably be renting a car for our vacation this year. So, instead of trying to cram my hubby, my grandson, myself and all of our travel things into my little Toyota Camry Solara (read that convertible with very little trunk space), I’m looking for a mid-sized SUV to rent for a couple of weeks.

We purchased a vacation condo in a local resort area in 2006 (yep, right before the crash). My sister-in-law and her husband had one that they used and rented out and indicated that it was doing well. Unfortunately, I was over optimistic about how many days per year the condo would rent. Guess which ones always rented first?

When we traveled, we packed a cooler full of food to eat on vacation and while on the road. Now that there are 5 members of our family, we easily save at least $100 a day every day that we’re on vacation and eating our own food. Use discounts on rental cars. We began cooking all of our meals at home.
