Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Christmas decorations, wrap, bows and ribbon all are continuous offerings at pretty much every garage sale, thrift store or estate sale I’ve ever shopped. Shop the after Christmas sales. I do use regular wrapping paper and tags, if I can get them on sale.

Store laundry supplies together – starch, detergent, spot remover, irons, fabric softener and etc. Store socks in the sock drawer, cutting knives in the knife holder, screwdrivers in their storage can (make one by cutting cardboard to the length of a coffee can, then spiraling it inside the can) and so on and so forth.

Instead of using aluminum foil or plastic wrap to cover casseroles and leftovers, store the food in re-usable containers. I love my Pyrex Glass Storage Containers with the blue plastic lids. Re-use glass jars instead of buying plastic storage ware. I have 4 different sizes. I learned this one from my Nanny.

Have a big box ready to take the throw-away items and another for anything that is good enough to go to the local thrift store. We have ‘good’ stuff for special occasions; why keep them just for special occasions and then have to worry about storage? What is the worst thing that will happen if I trash it? Be ruthless!
