We live near a huge amusement park that is a bit pricey, but after 5pm the price reduces considerably. Look for local fairs and festivals for low cost games, food and activities.

My now-husband took me there when we were dating and it was such a fun date to enjoy all the entertainment, food, and shopping. It is a medieval amusement park, a 12-stage theater, a 30-acre circus, an arts and crafts fair, a jousting tournament and a feast — all rolled into one non-stop, day-long family adventure.

They also took the kids (one at a time) each year and entertained them by going to tourist attractions in their area. They drove the 200 mile trip on holidays and birthdays to celebrate with us. They provided Christmas and birthday toys and on occasion provided direct financial aid. Why are we boomers more involved?
