My mother hosted her side of the family. Everyone chips in though, but my mom and two aunts cook the bulk of the food. Saturday: I am roasting a turkey for my family, mostly for the leftovers, but also so the 4 of us can sit down as a family for a big meal. We’re going to take the time and enjoy a family night.

So, you just keep it, crammed into the closet, back in the darkest corner of the deepest shelf – where it won’t be found until your kids hold the estate sale after you die! Thanksgiving Day is probably my most favorite holiday. Thanksgiving dinner for my extended family is a shared experience. She also roasts the turkey and makes the gravy and the stuffing, but my aunts, uncles, and cousins all bring a dish and/or dessert to round out the meal. Sweet Potato Bites at Cooking with My Kid.

My favorite memory of trick or treat was that my great Aunt Alice who lived 2 houses down from us gave out FULL sized Clark bars. In the past, what wasn’t chosen to be eaten was given away to friends whose kids have long grown, but this year, I have this list of ways to use leftover Halloween candy up my sleeve.
