Did you follow a particular debt freedom plan or book, such as Dave Ramsey or Debt-Proof Living? I did read about the Dave Ramsey method, however, I knew that for us, it would take something more extreme than cutting expenses and putting that money towards our debt. Imagine paying for two houses at once!

Personal Finance by the Book tells us how negotiating can put us on top. Financial Highway tells us how he paid off $50,000 of credit card debt. I have never owed that much on a credit card but I have had issues with paying them off in the past. I loved that series as a kid. Congrats!!
