Charity Donation: Redeem your points for a good cause. Every 100 points you redeem is a $1 donation to our supported charity. However, $1 off per gallon definitely makes the price better at GIANT. Charity Donation: 1000 points = $10 donation to an organization of Giant’s choosing. This dinner was a $16 value.

For instance, if you have a sunny extra bedroom you definitely don’t want to keep your cache of jarred and canned foods in there. For those with impressive stockpiles, having a separate building seems to work best. Durable, weather-proof, and inexpensive, steel buildings are as secure on the outside as they are cozy on the inside.

We also have many small examples just through letting people know that we are open to accepting used items (definitely not the norm in our affluent suburb). I’d send some to my nieces to help with their college expenses and would donate half to our local food pantry. We definitely keep things simple around here.

Growing up in a large family, we had enough, but with the specter of inflation and bad job market (gotta love the 70’s and 80’s) , there was definitely a feeling of needing to make sure you had a cushion. If I could spend it without strings, I might just donate it to a food pantry. I have what I need right now.

If you can’t answer with the word, CASH , then please, set yourself up for success and build an emergency fund. Recently I tried something completely new to me and earned $1000 in less than 3 months by donating plasma–see the details in #14. We feel it at our house too and this is definitely an area I need to improve.

They are not quite as common, but nutritious deals are definitely available. Sales come in cycles and you should definitely buy a few months worth of the items your family will use or eat, but there’s no need to buy more than that. I am also able to donate on a regular basis, even with my relatively small stockpile.

I’m definitely no organizational expert, but I have discovered some helpful ways to stay organized while tackling this whole frugality thing… Tips for organizing your day-to-day frugal ways: 1. Have a donation box. Most of us who are couponers also like to donate food, household items, and toiletries to those in need.
