For 20 or so years I’ve been homeschooling my kids, and am now down to about 1 1/2 (one full-time homeschooler, and one doing College Credit Plus with some support). We rent now and are much happier. We’ve saved so much on home improvement projects–when you rent you don’t worry about such things!

My dad was a blue-collar worker – a machine operator on the railroad who sometimes got laid off for periods of time in the winter. My mom cut coupons and sewed her own clothes and mine, as well. When they got married, they bought a duplex so that the rent money from the tenant in the upstairs apartment would pay the mortgage.

I use my hands WAY too much for nail polish to last more than a day, and I vastly prefer a kind of “uniform” over having to make decisions about my clothes every single morning (that sounds exhausting!). They had me, and then my mom decided to go back to school full-time and get a PhD.
