Those machines use plastic coffee pods that are often labeled as being recyclable – but only if you fully wash them out, take them apart, and separate all the pieces… which we know no one is doing. These are no more green than just recycling that pile of paper. Biodegradable trash bags. Paper shredders. Disposable diapers.

If you really want to get personal with your gift giving, you can make something to give to your friends and family. It’s possible to find wrapping paper and gift cards produced from recycled materials.

Here are some things you can do to reduce your own carbon footprint this season and have a green Christmas: Recyclable Wrapping Paper. Instead of going that route, why not use recycled material to wrap gifts? Take It Easy On the Consumerism. It’s an insane time of year, but contrary to popular belief, every tiny bit helps.

Consider the household products you buy – reduce the toxic chemicals in your home and improve the health of your family and the planet. Look for eco-friendly products with limited recyclable packaging, low-toxicity, no petrochemicals, are biodegradable and phosphate-free. Involve the whole family in menu planning and meal preparation.

Denim, which, according to Wikipedia comes from “the name of a sturdy fabric called serge, originally made in Nîmes , France, by the André family,” is a cotton twill textile woven into a rugged fabric we make into jeans and other denim clothing. This is not good, and denim is one of the biggest culprits. This is not good.
