I manage the finances for our business and our family and by August 2013, I felt the weight of the situation. Sitting down with my husband to discuss our situation was one of the hardest conversations I have ever had in our marriage, but I felt so much relief getting it off my chest. My husband and I had children later in life.

We also were working on paying for Jon’s master’s degree and then my own masters degree, which I completed in December 2013. It’s not specifically for debt repayment, but if he hadn’t built up the courage to ask for the raise that he deserved, we wouldn’t have moved as quickly toward our goals.
