She lost both of her jobs in the course of a month, and they consequently couldn’t meet the mortgage payments on their almost new home as a result. Eventually they did a short sale to get out from under the mortgage, moved to the mid-West to take advantage of nearness of family and lower living costs and she took jobs as waitresses.

But, I can’t believe people are making big bucks telling other people how to control their spendthrift ways, or sharing how to shave a few cents off a grocery bill. I cut the family’s hair. Of course, we also tried to maximize our income. We changed our own oil and rotated our own tires.
