Credit card rewards programs are no different. The rewards encourage you to charge things on their card. Unless you are one of the few that pay off their balance in full each and every time, does it really make sense to carry a card to get loyalty rewards? We prefer not to use credit.

I locked in the CD at my local credit union where it will earn 4.75% during that time frame. My plan is to use this cash first as it will come to term around the same time we will need to make the first college payment. We have already used one of the credits for my daughter’s flight to the Midwest later this summer.

Have you ever had to listen to a dinner companion brag about the ‘free’ trip they took with their cash back reward cards, or watched as the person in front of you pondered which of the dozens of cards in their wallet they should use for this particular purchase? I don’t use cash back credit cards.
