Our emergency fund. I am totally paraphrasing the year, but had it not been for the money in our emergency savings, we would most likely have used credit cards to survive. We reduced our spending where we could, but the money to pay any shortfall each month came from our emergency fund.

We paid down mostly student loans, vehicles and business credit card debt ( we already own a home outright ). We still look for bargains and shop at thrift stores. We are almost done with our 3-6 month emergency fund and will begin maxing out our retirement accounts. Was there a particular event?
