Get some shoe polish and shine up those old shoes, take them to a shoe repair shop to have the re-heeled or soled if they are worn down. This used to be a common occurrence with a shoe repair shop on every main street. Learn to hem and patch and sew on buttons to repair minor issues with clothing. Go Frugal Go Green'

Time saved alone is worth the small effort you expend in learning how to make these repairs. Easy deal and much cheaper than buying drapes at the time. Today it is much less expensive to buy your clothes, even if you buy brand new and certainly if you shop some of the chic re-sale shops or even the thrift stores.

I scouted for tiles as I went to garage sales for other items and was lucky enough to find not only a big lot of beautiful travertine tiles, but also two very usable Kohler bath faucets – for which we bought one replacement part off the Kohler repair site. My son had a tile cutter which he loaned to me.

Garage sales – need I say more? I ,myself, knocked the price of a satellite repair call down to zero by just asking WHY I would have to pay when it is their equipment that has malfunctioned through no fault of my own. Know what you want from the deal – a lower price, more stuff, better service, etc. off the price.
