Donate good clothing you really can’t use to a non-profit and bank the tax deduction. Plan uses for your leftovers. Pass down serviceable clothing from child to child. Make old t-shirts and dish cloths into rags to use when dusting or washing the car and etc. Use up your food. Avoid re-decorating your home every few years.

Of course there are personal benefits as well – you save money by not buying or by buying used and you save money by not paying sales taxes for a new item. I don’t freeze food in the used bags, but do use them for leftovers in the frig. My Mother-in-law always washed hers out and dried them and then used them again.
