Donate items : Since my son is an only child, his clothing doesn’t get a lot of heavy use. We usually send him home with the leftovers.

Donate good clothing you really can’t use to a non-profit and bank the tax deduction. If one feature goes out (like an ice maker on a freezer), but the rest of the unit still works fine, think about using an alternative to extend the life of the appliance (like making your own ice, or buying a bag a week at the grocery).

It is my personal goal to save 75% or more on all my shopping, both grocery and retail. And remember, even if an item is free, you’re still paying tax. I am so proud… *tear* All of this is being donated to the food bank. in FREE groceries after coupons! I paid OOP $54 + tax with a savings of $906!! Back when Target had the gift card deal, took multiple transactions, but I got over $315 in real groceries for $12! pound ham was……$17.61. It was 4 transactions.

Of course there are personal benefits as well – you save money by not buying or by buying used and you save money by not paying sales taxes for a new item. Before throwing away old clothing, I snip the buttons off and remove working zippers (unless I’m donating the item). Old clothing parts.
