We then looked at how much each item in that group cost us; gas, property and car insurance, maintenance, etc. 400/month gas for truck. 130/month gas for car. It has great fuel economy, at about 40 MPG. This is an exercise that we wanted to do prior to combining our chequing accounts. 187/month car insurance.

How Downsizing to an Apartment Has Saved Us Money

Our gas and electric bills have been smaller since we moved. Public Transportation and Other Amenities. Finally, we are saving due to better public transit. The apartment is about 250 square feet smaller than our home in Utah was (we lived in a fairly small home). It’s been a win-win for us and for the environment.
