Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. Garage sales take time, you have to hit quite a few before you find the item you want or need. If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. I love a bargain.

Once baby comes, we might become major spenders on toys, a new home, a bigger car and more. As a young mom, I saved like mad – going to garage sales, thrift stores and accepting hand me downs on toys and clothing. The things that give us pleasure vary by temperament. Time of life.

I got brand new clothes , a stroller, a playpen, toys, blankets, the list goes on and on. Many of the other items I needed like cloth diapers and clothes for the baby in bigger sizes I bought from garage sales. They did not have a large toy room with so many toys they don’t know what to play with.

Cradles, cribs, play pens, changing tables, strollers, high chairs, diapers, diaper bags, car seats, baby clothes and TOYS TOYS TOYS and more TOYS. Some get stuff from stores, the less financially favored head for thrift stores, garage sales, Mom’s house or the trash pickup routes.

They kind of look like the ones for sale at Curious Country Creations. Plan ahead and hit garage sales, but especially estate sales. You can pick up beautiful decorations, wreaths, linens, trees and more at these sales. Thrift stores are also a great place to shop. These make nice gifts too.

Garage sale and thrift store furniture bargains abound. The toy ice cream table and chairs from my Mom’s childhood have an iron frame, which I stripped and spray painted. But there are ways to save – consider used furniture. Ways to save on furniture. I found both at area antique malls.
