I sanded it down in my dad’s garage. Anyway, after priming the nightstand, I applied the pink paint which, yes, looks very white. When I paint furniture in a light color, I often have to use caulk to fill in some gaps; the light color makes them rather unsightly. You know the next step: priming. Yes, yes she did.

I used an old seat cushion I had and wrapped it with brand new material from another garage sale to pretty it up and make it softer, then stacked new throw pillows I found at yet another sale for $.50 My ribbon however came from a garage sale.

Garage sale and thrift store furniture bargains abound. I used a standard hardware store staple gun that shot thick 3/8″ staples and was very hard to use. The toy ice cream table and chairs from my Mom’s childhood have an iron frame, which I stripped and spray painted. Ways to save on furniture. Updating the look.

Give that set of sturdy, bright orange bookshelves new life with several coats of white paint. The woodwork doesn’t need to match exactly, instead choose pieces based on price and function.
