Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle. Fortunately, there are a number of things that you can do with plastic grocery bags to give them a second life. Recycle If none of these circumstances apply to you, you can always recycle your grocery bags. Many grocery stores will have a place where you can bring your plastic bags and leave them to be recycled.

Look for toys that don’t need batteries or give books to children instead. Have a look for antiques and collectables to give as gifts – there’s less impact on the environment because they’re not new, and you can find some really interesting and original presents. Where possible, try to avoid gifts that use batteries. Plus, green.

Do they recycle? Do they use recycled products? Recycle, recycle, recycle. If you have items you aren’t using, recycle them or give them to someone who can reuse them. Also, be sure to buy recycled products like toilet paper. Give green gifts. Shop at eco-friendly businesses.

Candy alone can be a big bite if you get lots of trick or treaters and give out chocolate. We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. What do you do to recycle/reuse on Halloween? What are the typical essentials?

Additionally, some grocery stores either sell the Sunday paper on Monday for a discounted price or simply give it away for free. Check the Local Recycling Center Simply go to RecyclingCenters.org to find the nearest recycling center. I have an agreement with my local newspaper vendor to keep copies for me.
