Daughters and sons of very wealthy families sometimes want to disown the family wealth in order to prove themselves. Plus, with a college education it is more likely that the kids will be on their own quicker. It is true that grandparents love to ‘spoil’ the grandkids (I know this because I am a grandparent).

And you can make a game out of it for the kids. Too bad the grandkids are too small to read and execute their assignments, and I’m pretty sure my daughter is not going to take the assignment of folding my clothes! But my son-in-law is going to be getting a lot of assignments from my daughter.

The Grandkids are 9 and 12 now with lots of time before they have to start supporting themselves somehow. After 10 years raising kids, I decided to re-enter the workforce. Parent’s are proud to say; My Son the Doctor or My Daughter the Astronaut. It didn’t. At the time we were substantially poor.

She was in her seventies at the time, my spouse and I in our forties and our kids were tween and teen. But our best trip was in 2012, when we funded a trip to Yellowstone with our two sons, their wives and our grandchildren. Our kids haven’t lived with us since 1996, so lets face it, sometimes they get on our nerves.
