It is best to travel during off seasons when airline tickets and hotel prices are at its lowest. But if your destination in mind is far and requires airline tickets, it is best to search for seat sale and compare prices of different airlines. It does not matter much if the hotel you are staying in is unbelievably cheap.

Discount travel sites like Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com, and Kayak offer their customers a lot of deals on hotels, airline tickets, and even tickets to destination attractions—sometimes they will offer package deals that can seem too good to be true. We just have to know how to plan and where to look for the best deals.

The most obvious are saving on your room (and you can get that discount through central reservations or your travel agent) and tickets; however, there are other ways to save. Here are three of my favorites: Show your AAA card at non-signature restaurants at the Swan or Dolphin: I used it at The Fountain at the Dolphin Hotel in August.

We agree on what happens to our extra cash and discuss weekly our goals for saving and investing as well as any big ticket purchases on the horizon. Since I was getting paid for working and hotel/airfare was covered, we were able to celebrate with a small net effect on our budget. I am the nerd. So I work the budget and spreadsheets.

Having a back up ensures you’re not stuck in the hotel room twiddling your thumbs and wondering what to do next. One of my cousins planned the whole trip, which was fine when it came down to buying tickets, hotel reservations and document translation services (for emergencies). I wanted to buy a ticket back home.
