She also scarfed up any other gift wrap that looked usable, and she stored it carefully away for use the next year. While I am not that thrifty, and I love prettily wrapped gifts, I don’t like to spend a bunch on wrappings. Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Use paper drop cloth to wrap.

Last year, we barely had any snow, but in 2010 our street looked like this: My kids LOVE to play in the snow, but I really hate to spend a lot of money on snow gear, because we just never know what kind of winter weather we’ll get here in the center of the state. Luck is definitely what I found!

I stopped by my two favorite thrift stores last week: Salvation Army & Community Aid, a local store. I only go on Wednesdays, because both stores offer an additional 50% off on almost everything. Finally, spring has arrived in central PA, so I carved out some time last Wednesday to hit the thrift stores.

For many, the end of the year holiday shopping frenzy can override our saner, more thrifty selves. Spending our precious and all too limited time searching online and in stores. Stores also stock up on gift sets with cosmetics for the holidays and may need to move it fast in January. I know I do. Other tips.

Participate in local food drives and donations and involve your kids in your actions. You can make it fun for you kids by running a household scavenger hunt in which you reward you children for finding household items to donate, such as clothes, toys, books, old appliances, and canned goods. And vice versa!)

I’m always amazed by the amount store tags I see on clothing and household item at thrift stores. Research the store’s return policy for unused purchases without a receipt if you don’t have it. 19 – Shop thrifty for you clothing needs. The neighbor kids are doing quite well on my street.

As my kids have grown, I have expanded my work hours at our office and by the end of the week, I’m too cooked to cook , so take out it is! We did this and realized that we have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney +, and Sling TV—and my kids want HBO Max. The neighbor kids are doing quite well on my street.
