Laptop woes. My laptop pc started throwing Windows errors at me and I thought it was just another virus and that I could fix it. System boards, as it turns out, are expensive, hard to replace and usually spawn the need for an operating system reload… cheaper to buy a new laptop – so I did. It hurts like a son of a gun!

Our tablet, laptops, and desktop are all refurbished. We bought a lot of our son’s onesies and other items (including a crib) at a consignment shop. My son has already learned that he can get more bang for his book dollar if he buys used. There are many consumer electronics items that you can purchase used. Baby Items.

My son and his family live in Montana. I have 2 laptops that have broken screens. I’ve been divorced (unmarried) for 15 years. Wow, time flies. My ex-husband and I have an amicable relationship. My daughter lives in California and we talk regularly. I pray for them all regularly and wish them blessings and love.

My family is much less likely to distract me when I’m working on my desktop computer than when I’m sitting on the couch with my laptop. My husband usually sleeps later than I do, and once I get my son off to school, I have plenty of distraction-free time. The physical separation makes a big difference.

This was a lesson I learned while on spring break with my son a couple of years ago. I bring a personal item — my laptop in its case. I keep a couple essentials in the laptop bag along with the computer and that’s it. I also made sure that bag had wheels. We went on a road trip, and we both packed duffel bags.

While I sometimes work on the laptop while sitting on the couch, I find I’m more effective in my home office area. I do most of my work while my son is at school and my husband is at university, teaching his classes. Set up a work area that doesn’t have many distractions.
